Visit the "Pompeii of Asia" on our day trip to Jerash and the medieval Aljoun Castle. We'll also take a swim in the incredible Dead Sea during this unforgettable adventure in Jordan.
Jerash, Aljoun Castle & Dead Sea Day Trip
Having met up at the entrance of the Sulaf Luxury Hotel at the indicated team, we'll leave Amman behind and set off for our first stop of the day, which is Aljoun.
When we get there, we'll explore the fortress constructed by the Muslims to defend themselves against the crusaders in the 12th century. From the lofty heights of the Aljoun Castle walls, you'll have spectacular views over the whole region. Don't forget your camera!
Next, we'll head to Jerash in northern Jordan. This city has been called "the Pompeii of Asia" for the number of Roman ruins there. Let's explore them!
We'll stroll through this ancient city and visit its most emblematic monuments. These include the Triumphal Arch, the Oval Forum, the Colonnaded Street, the Temple of Aphrodite and the Theatre. At this last spot you'll see - or rather, hear - that the venue still has incredible acoustics several thousand years on!
Before continuing with the rest of the day trip, you'll have some free time at a local restaurant to take a well-earned break and enjoy a traditional lunch.
Once you've had something to eat, we'll go to the Dead Sea. When we arrive you'll have free time to take a dip in the waters, which have a concentration of salt so high that you'll be able to float with ease. In addition, the mud found at the Dead Sea has exceptional natural healing properties.
After you've taken a dip, we'll begin our return journey to the starting point in Amman, arriving 9 to 9.5 hours later. See you next time!
