Explore an unparalleled architectural treasure in the province of Salerno with this excursion to the Certosa di Padula.
Certosa di Padula Excursion
At the selected time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ascea. From there, we'll travel by bus to one of the most impressive Baroque monumental complexes in southern Italy. The Certosa di Padula awaits!
From the moment we arrive, you'll be struck by the impressive size of this monastery, whose real name is Certosa di San Lorenzo. In size, the complex is second only to the Grande Chartreuse of Grenoble in France!
After admiring the Baroque façade, we'll head into the interior of the religious complex to learn about the different spaces that make it up. We'll visit the church and the chapels of the Carthusian monastery, as well as the Capitolio room, the library with a Vietrese ceramic tiled floor, and the refectory, a space where you can still feel the essence of the Carthusian monks.
We'll of course also marvel at the Great Cloister of the Padula Charterhouse. Covering an area of 15,000 square meters, it's considered the largest cloister in the world!
At the end of the visit, we'll return to Ascea and take you back to your hotel, where we'll call this four-hour excursion a wrap.
