At the designated time, we'll meet at Mate Bar Experience, located in the Retiro neighborhood. Want to learn all the secrets behind Argentinian mate? This corner of Buenos Aires is the perfect setting for an experience dedicated to Argentina's most iconic drink.
From the very first moment, you'll be immersed in an atmosphere that captures the passion Argentines have for mate. Because it's not just a drink... it's a genuine tradition and a way of connecting that transcends borders. Guided by true experts, we'll learn every step of preparing and drinking a proper mate.
We'll start by curing the calabaza, the gourd used to drink mate. Then we'll get into the art of preparing, or cebando, a good mate. This is one of the most important steps, as the temperature must be just right, and care and dedication are everything.
To make the workshop even more special, we'll taste 5 varieties of premium yerba mate, each served in a different way, like bitter, sweet, cooked, or tereré. You decide which one's your favorite! We'll also hear the stories behind each preparation style, the gaucho traditions, and how Argentines weave this drink into their everyday lives.
To accompany the mate, we'll serve a selection of medialunas from one of the best bakeries in Buenos Aires. And if you have a sweet tooth, we'll also show you how to make the famous dulce de leche alfajores. What more could you ask for?
