At the indicated time, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in Colonia del Sacramento and head to the vineyards and olive groves of Quintón, an estate just 30 minutes from the city where winemaking and olive oil production coexist in a unique rural setting.
After a brief introduction, the experience will begin with a video presentation that will help us understand the olive oil and winemaking processes before we begin our tour of the vineyards.
Next, we'll stroll through the olive groves and vineyards, observing how they are integrated into an ecosystem where the local flora and fauna also play a vital role.
We'll walk alongside the lagoon, ideal for birdwatching, while we discuss the specific agronomic characteristics of olive and grape cultivation. We'll also discover how the soil, humidity, and orientation of the plots directly influence the final quality of the olives and grapes.
Our tour will continue with a visit to the olive mill, equipped with advanced technology, where we'll explain the different stages of olive oil production, from receiving the fruit to extraction.
Next, we'll visit the gravity-flow winery, a facility spread across three underground levels where the wine is moved using the force of gravity. Did you know that this system allows for more delicate handling of the grapes and must? It's unique in the region!
To finish, we'll enjoy a tasting of olive oils and three wines from Quintón. This will be accompanied by a selection of cheeses, charcuterie, breads, olives, and nuts.
We'll say goodbye after a 3-hour tour and take you back to your hotel.
Tour With Lunch
If you'd like to enjoy a full meal at the winery, you can book this option. In this case, after the tour, we’ll sit down in the restaurant to enjoy a set menu consisting of:
- Appetizer: a basket of artisanal breads with a tasting of two extra-virgin olive oils.
- Starter, choose from: a bread skewer with creamy cheese, roasted tomatoes, and basil; a bread skewer with creamy cheese, ham, and pistachios; vegetable consommé; or salmon on a bed of mixed greens. The appetizer will be paired with a Bruna Bianca white wine.
- Main course, choose from: beef steak served with carrot and coconut purée or roasted pumpkin purée; raviolones stuffed with ricotta, spinach, and walnuts, served with filet sauce, Bolognese sauce, or cream cheese sauce; or quinoa croquettes with roasted vegetables. The main course will be paired with a Bruna del Plata Malbec varietal red wine or a Petra Malbec-Tannat blend.
- Dessert, choose from: Basque cake with red berries; pancakes with dulce de leche; or Quintón dessert (olive oil-based ice cream with white chocolate served over a crunchy base and a Malbec emulsion). The dessert will be paired with a Reserva Bruna Insignia Malbec-Malbec red wine.
The entire menu includes still or sparkling mineral water and herbal teas.
