Day Trip Details
After picking you up at your hotel in Esquel at the designated time, we'll leave the city behind on the Ruta Nacional 259, an iconic highway in Chubut, where we'll cross the beautiful landscapes of Patagonia. Let's go!
First, after a 30-minute drive, we'll arrive at Trevelin, also known as the "Windmill Town," the heart of Argentina's Welsh culture. On board the bus, we'll go on a 40-minute scenic tour passing by emblematic sites, such as the town's main square, surrounded by old buildings that tell the history of the area's first settlers. You'll also see the Capilla Bethel, a chapel that's a symbol of Trevelin's unity.
Then, we'll search for Nant and Falls Protected Natural Area. Here, we'll embark on a moderate-difficulty hike in the Patagonian forest. During this 1-hour route, we'll pass the Cascada Larga and be amazed by the symmetry of the Cascadas Mellizas and the delicate Cascada Petiza. You'll feel connected with the purest essence of Patagonia!
The adventure will continue at Nant Fach Windmill, a loyal replica of the old flour mills that marked the golden age of wheat production in this valley. We'll step into its museum, where we'll discover the original tools from that time as we learn about the history of the Welsh migrants' efforts for 1 hour. Did you know this region exported flour to Europe thanks to its high-quality grain?
Our last stop will be at Viñas Nant y Fall, one of the most southernmost vineyards in the world. We'll tour its facilities for 1 hour, where we'll learn about the secrets of its production, and you'll have the chance to enjoy a glass of wine to end our activity on a high note.
Finally, we'll begin our journey back to your hotel, where we'll say our goodbyes 5 hours after pickup.
Visit a Tulip Field
If you take this day trip between October 7 and November 7, the route will be slightly different. In addition to the panoramic tour of Trevelin, during which we'll see the town from the vehicle, we'll visit a local tulip field. There, you'll have free time to take photographs and enjoy the surroundings.
The visit to this field will take place before or after the waterfalls and vineyards of Nant y Fall. The tour will conclude with the return to your hotel in Esquel, where we'll arrive 7.5 hours after pickup.
