Description
At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Guanajuato and make our way by minibus to one of the most interesting Magic Towns in this Mexican state. Mineral de Pozos awaits us!
After 2 hours of travelling on the highway, we'll have arrived at our destination. Once there, we'll visit the Santa Brígida mine, a place where 18th-century silver-smelting ovens used to be. Did you know that they were built by the Jesuit order?
Next, we'll learn about the history of the underground richness of Mineral de Pozos, by entering the Cinco Señores mines. There, we'll be able to see old tunnels and ruins of an elegant and opulent colonial estate that was located beside one of these gold and silver farms. In fact, there of many of these exact structures in this town.
We'll then delve even deeper into the mining and agricultural past of Mineral de Pozos by observing the former El Triángulo estate, a structure famous for being the property of the Mexican president, Porfirio Díaz, and having a cactus garden.
Near the historical centre of the town, we'll find the old school of Mineral de Pozo, which was, at one point, one of the best schools in the state. Currently, the building houses an exhibition about the history of the town and a collection of contemporary Mexican art.
You'll also have some free time so that you can grab something to eat, and then, after 9 hours together, the tour will come to an end, back at the hotels in Guanajuato.
