During the Christian siege in 1147, Afonso I, the first king of Portugal, made a promise: if he succeeded in conquering the city from the Muslims, he would have a monastery built dedicated to Saint Vincent. This monastery was founded the same year outside the city walls, which is how the priory got its name.

Dating between the 17th and 18th centuries, these tiles tell many stories—from historical events to hunting scenes, pastoral romances, and fairy tales written by La Fontaine.
