Looking for adventure in Nuevo León? Get your adrenaline pumping with some canyoning in the Matacanes Canyon, a spectacular gorge in the Sierra de Santiago.
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Hotel Hacienda Cola de Caballo, a hotel located just 1 hour’s drive from downtown Monterrey.
Once everyone has arrived, we will board an off-road vehicle and drive for about 1 hour to Potrero Redondo. This natural area is located in the heart of the Sierra de Santiago, one of the state of Nuevo León’s most stunning landscapes.
Upon arrival, we’ll have a light lunch and gear up with wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, and other equipment. Once we’re fully equipped, we’ll hike through pine forests for 1.5 hours. At the end of the trail, the famous Matacanes Canyon awaits us, where we’ll go canyoning and rappel down a 27-meter (89 ft) section.
Next, we’ll cross a series of natural pools with turquoise waters and continue our canyoning route through the Matacanes Canyon toward another section. On this vertical wall, we’ll make another rappel jump from 17 m (56 ft). Quite a challenge!
After this final challenge, we’ll recharge our energy with a light lunch outdoors. After lunch, we’ll hike for about 1 hour toward Potrero Redondo and from there return by an off-road vehicle to the Hotel Hacienda Cola de Caballo, where we’ll conclude this 14.5-hour activity.
