Magic Bavaria, Munich's Museum of Illusions
Located within the MONA shopping centre, Magic Bavaria is no ordinary museum. It's a space covering over 1,000 m² (10,763 sq²) where Bavarian culture blends with the art of illusion. Through 30 interactive photo spots, you can enjoy experiences that defy gravity and logic.
During your visit, you’ll see the region’s most iconic landmarks from a completely new perspective: from balancing on a giant Oktoberfest-style pretzel to diving into Munich’s largest ball pit, which simulates a refreshing Alpine lake. Plus, don’t miss the Crystal Mirror Room, a labyrinth of magic mirrors that will make you lose your sense of space.
The visit usually lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours, although you can stay as long as you need to get the perfect photo.
A Journey Through the Wonders of Bavaria
The museum is divided into different themed areas that pay tribute to local traditions with a surrealist twist:
- World of Illusions: you’ll enter various upside-down rooms with visual effects that make it seem as though you're walking on the ceiling.
- Local Area: these scenes, inspired by the Mad King’s castles, the mountains and local festivals, will leave you speechless!
- Immersive Experiences: in this area you’ll find light and mirror installations where you are the stars of the artwork.

Magic Bavaria is open at the following times:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 11 am to 7 pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 am to 7 pm.
