Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at number 6 Via della Repubblica, right by the caravan parking area, where we'll begin our guided tour of Panicale. Ready to discover why it's considered one of the most beautiful villages in Umbria? Let's get started!
Regarded as a natural terrace overlooking Lake Trasimeno, this charming village has preserved its medieval layout of concentric circles. We'll begin our walk by visiting its three main squares: Piazza Umberto I, Piazza San Michele Arcangelo, and the picturesque Piazza Masolino.
We'll lose ourselves in its narrow streets, where time seems to have stood still, until we reach the Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo and the imposing Palazzo del Podestà. During the tour, we'll not only talk about history, but also contemporary art, as we search for the statues by Davide Rivalta scattered throughout the village.
The guided tour will continue past the Museo del Tulle, the church of Sbarra, and the church of San Sebastiano. One of the most special moments will be our stop at a panoramic viewpoint. From there, we'll spend a few minutes contemplating the views of Montalera Castle and the deep blue of Lake Trasimeno, identifying its three islands: Maggiore, Minore, and Polvese. Photo opportunity!
After 1 hour exploring Panicale, we'll end the tour by returning to the starting point.
