We'll meet at the indicated time in front of the AHM—São Paulo Municipal Historical Archive. From here, we'll stroll through the main streets of the neighborhood of Bom Retiro, strongly influenced by Italian, Jewish, Bolivian, and Indigenous ethnic groups' migration movements. A fascinating mix of cultures!
Our first stop will be at the Municipal Historical Archives of São Paulo, the former Polytecnic School. As you admire its facade, you'll learn about the history and evolution of this Brazilian district. We'll continue the tour by visiting the Casa do Povo, a cultural center where a vast memory of Bom Retiro's community lies.
Our next stop? The Oswaldo de Andrade Cultural Workshop and the working-class neighborhood of Michele Anastasi. Can you guess which of these two sites was the illustrious pharmacy Faculty of Pharmacy and Odontology in São Paulo? Afterward, we'll head to one of the liveliest streets in the neighborhood to discover the culinary traditions of the different towns in Bom Retiro. For example, you'll have the chance to grab a bite to eat and try the most typical sandwiches at the Otugui and Casa Búlgara stores.
