Embark on a fascinating day trip from Taipei to discover three of Taiwan's most beloved treasures: the Yehliu Geopark, the picturesque mining town of Jiufen, and the surprising Shifen Waterfall.
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at the Ximen bus station, and once we're all gathered, we'll begin this adventure. Ready to discover three of Taiwan's natural gems? Let's go!
After approximately 1 hour, our first stop will be at the Yehliu Geopark, a surprising outdoor gallery of natural sculptures. The most famous sculpture is the "Queen's Head," a rock that looks like Queen Elizabeth II, which has become a symbol of the park.
Other rock formations we'll see during our trip are the "Sea Candle," the "Fairy Shoe," and the "Dragon Head." These curious formations have been sculptured for thousands of years by the erosion of wind and water. Along with the rocks, the geopark offers fabulous scenic views of the Pacific Ocean.
Then, we'll head to Jiufen, a former mining town that will captivate you with its streets illuminated with lanterns. You'll have around 1.5 hours of free time to stroll around its winding streets, soak up its magical atmosphere, and indulge in delicious, typical dishes that you'll find in its food stands.
Together again, we'll continue our day trip toward the Shifen Waterfall, known as the Pequeña Niágara de Taiwán due to its shape and the force of its waterfall. After leaving you some time to take plenty of photos of this pretty landscape, we'll reach Shifen Old Street.
Shifen Old Street is a very famous area because of its tradition of releasing sky lanterns with wishes inside. If you want, you can participate in this popular tradition. It'll be a meaningful moment!
Finally, we'll return to the starting point in Taipei, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 9 hours and 15 minutes.
