We’ll pick you up at 8:00 am at your accommodation in Tingo Maria to go to Huayna Capac, where the famous cave of the Sacred Mantle is located.
After a half an hour drive, we will arrive at our destination and embark on a 25-minute hike into the Peruvian jungle. At the end of this trek, the spectacular Sacred Mantle Cave, a karst cave formed millions of years ago, awaits us.
We’ll get ready for the expedition and prepare our equipment such as helmets and torches. After prepping we’ll begin our exploration and enter its labyrinths of stalactites and stalagmites and its underground lagoons. During the caving route we’ll be able to appreciate the rock formations of various sizes and shapes, such as the cathedral.
Our adventure will continue with us descending until we reach a depth of 350 metres and at this point we will find the underground waterfall of the Sacred Mantle. Its waters plunge down a 15-metre drop and are lost through the so-called Tragadero del Misterio (Mystery Gully). What secrets does this place with such an enigmatic name hide?
We’ll make a stop along the way so that you can have lunch with the picnic you have brought with you, and then we will return to the surface. Once in the open air, we will walk to Huayna Capac, where transport will be waiting to take you back to your respective hotels in Tingo Maria. Arrival time will at around 5:00 pm.
