After meeting up at the designated time at 2da. Avenida in San Vicente Pacaya, we'll tell you the basic safety instructions before giving you the quads and helmets. Ready to drive through the folds of a volcano? Let's get this adventure on the road!
From this street, we'll set off and begin exploring the landscape surrounding the Pacaya Volcano. Firstly, we'll cross the little villages and fields at the base of the mountain, where the greenness of the vegetation serves as a stark contrast to the dark brown and black tones of the volcanic earth.
We'll then follow the trail up the volcano, beginning the ascent. We'll cross a rainforest to reach the Calderas Lagoon, the ideal spot for our first pause and to capture the postcard-pretty views on your cameras. After resting, we'll continue our tour aboard the ATVs. The route will become more challenging as we come across more volcanic rocks and sand and as we encounter more winding trails.
As we go up, we'll begin to see the remains of petrified lava rivers until we reach the highest point of our trajectory, where the heat of the active crater will become apparent. Once we arrive, we'll have fabulous views of the famous Acatenango Volcano, the Fuego Volcano, and the Agua Volcano. Get ready for some unforgettable scenic views!
We'll make the most of our surroundings with a typical picnic-style lunch including a sandwich, chips, biscuits, chocolate, and water. A well-earned meal!
Lastly, we'll begin our journey back to our initial meeting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 5 hours and 15 minutes.
Please note that to drive the ATVs, you must be 18 or over and have a valid and current driving licence. Children aged 13 to 17 can participate as passengers.
